"Which left it open to three options for capture," Spock finished, beginning to clear the board.

Kirk scoffed. "It's unfair just 'cause you're a Vulcan. You have an unfair advantage." He reached for his drink, barely able to reach it over the bulk of his stomach. "I consider it a tie."

"If you wish," Spock replied nonchalantly, rising from his seat to return the board to its proper place. "Do you wish for more water, Jim?"

"Nah, I'm good," Kirk said, staring up at the ceiling. "...and have I ever mentioned how much I can't wait to be able to drink booze again...? I mean, seriously, I'm so sick of being a health freak I think I'll eat and drink nothing but beer and steak after the baby's born."

"An unwise decision," Spock said from the adjacent room. "You will wish to be rid of the weight you have gained, will you not?"

"No need. Bones can suck the fat outta' me."

"He does not approve of such procedures," Spock reminded him, coming back into the room.

"Well, he can suck it." Kirk said, looking longingly over at the replicator in the wall. "...I wanna donut..."

Spock sat down. "You may ask the doctor, if you wish..."

"If I comm him for a donut, he'll skin me alive," Kirk said miserably. "I should just have one without asking. Like the good old days..."

Spock raised an eyebrow. "You do not believe you have a choice?"

Kirk froze. "You know what, you're so right, Spock!" he said, standing up suddenly and bravely stalking his way (as much as one can stalk when one is 9 months pregnant) toward the replicator. "I'm gonna have a donut whether he likes it or not. It's not like he could ever find out!"

Spock just watched as Kirk started to program it in. "If that is what you believe," he said simply, and the replicator began to whir.

The results were highly disappointing. Instead of a fresh, soft, glazed doughnut; there was a bowl of fruit with the equivalent of Splenda sprinkled on it.

Kirk stared at it, a completely blank expression on his face. "...my life CANNOT suck this much."

Spock raised an eyebrow. "Impressive. He reprogrammed your replicator to mistake anything entirely unhealthy for something he would approve of you consuming."

"He is SO mean to me!" Kirk roared, pounding on the replicator - only to inflict significant pain on himself - and spent the next few seconds clutching his hand and panting in agony. "...godddd!!"

Spock watched without comment as Kirk recovered.

Kirk drew himself up slowly, his eyes narrowed at the Vulcan as the pain finally began to dissipate. "Why doesn't Rorek ever pull this shit on you? I've seen him feed you avocados."

Spock nodded in agreement. "I am partial to them."

"And those are fattening, right?!"

Spock frowned. "I do not believe so..."

"Bah! You Vulcans and your vegetables," Kirk collapsed down on the couch again. "I can't wait to get back on the Bridge. There's no telling how far off course we've gotten since the two of us had to drop out..."

"I am certain we are on track, Captain," Spock assured him, bringing him the bowl. "Are you going to eat?"

Kirk wrinkled his nose at the bowl. "Splenda."

"Better than nothing, Jim," Spock reminded him, moving the bowl closer.
