"You want to live," The Andorian said darkly. "And, if you refuse...we'll have to use other methods for the information and communication we need on the others. You wouldn't want that, would you?"

"By saying that, are you implying that you'll leave them alone if I do what you say?"

"No." The Andorian said, his eyes a piercing black as he glared at him. "I am implying that it would be in your best interest to agree."

Rorek stared at him for a few seconds longer. Then, finally, he dipped his head down, once. "Fine."

Several days passed. Several times, the Andorians made efforts to contact Starfleet, with Rorek there, ready to speak to them. However, the field from the planet they were stationed near caused interceptions in the transmission, and no complete message was able to be made.

Every day, Rorek would return to the cell in the ship, where the others were kept. And each time, it was the same. Another failed communication, no word from the Enterprise...and Kirk's and Spock's conditions were not improving.

"How are they?" he murmured, not even glancing back as the Andorian guard locked the cell door behind him, moving to crouch beside Spock, glancing over the Vulcan's pale face. "Has the bleeding stopped?"

McCoy looked over at him, his gaze dropping back to Kirk with a small shake of his head. "Some. It starts again every now and then, but it's not as bad as it was."

Rorek nodded, remaining silent for a moment. Then he glanced up, almost hesitantly. "...the babies?"

McCoy shook his head, taking a cloth off of Kirk's arm. "I won't know until I have my instruments."

Rorek nodded, letting out a quiet breath. He looked at Spock's face, reaching out to brush his fingers along the Vulcan's fair cheek. He bent down, kissing Spock's split lips gently, before straightening again, and looking back at McCoy. "Still no success with the transmissions. I can't tell whether they were expecting these problems or not. Either way, though, it's buying us time."

"I don't need more time to pass I need less of it," McCoy said, his voice aggravated as he wrapped a new bandage around Kirk's arm. "You think those kids will last much longer with a parents knocked flat?" he asked as he looked up at Rorek. "I need my instruments. They need to eat and get treatment. If we don't get it they're going to die, and every damn bit of peace in the Federation with it."

Rorek nodded, glancing away. For a while he was silent, before, quietly, he spoke again. "There may be a chance for us coming soon," he said, casting a half-interested glance at the cell door. "...we may be able to get a shuttle out of here."

McCoy looked up at him with a glare. "And what, we just carry them?"

"If we have to, yes," Rorek said, his tone instantly matching the doctor's. "It may be our only chance. The likelihood of Scotty ever finding a way to beam us out of here is almost non-existent. We have to find a way out by shuttle or some other, unheard-of miracle."

"We could save them the trouble and commit suicide," McCoy said angrily.

"Rorek,"

McCoy's head flashed to the side, getting up only a moment later and rushing to Spock's side. "Well I'll be damned...he's waking up."

Rorek moved even faster than McCoy had at that, appearing almost instantly at Spock's side. He lifted the Vulcan's long, delicate hand, holding it tightly between his own. "Spock? I'm here, t'hy'la...how do you feel?"

"Probably fantastic Rorek, thank you." McCoy said irritably, peering down at Spock's half-open eyes. "Can you see alright, Spock?"

Spock nodded just slightly, looking up at Rorek and swallowing with some difficulty. "Do we...have water?"

McCoy pointed automatically toward the cup that the Andorian had brought just before Rorek had been brought back. "Over there, Rorek."

Rorek turned, stretching out for the cup and bringing it back a moment later. He slipped a hand under Spock's head, supporting him while he offered the water to him. "Drink all you can, t'hy'la. We have enough."

McCoy moved down to his legs as Spock managed to drink the entire cup. "Does that hurt, Spock?" he asked, pressing on one of his legs.

Spock shook his head, closing his eyes briefly before opening them again. "Ribs..."

"There are several broken," McCoy said, nodded as he moved to the other leg. "I know. Does that hurt?"

Spock winced, nodding as he tried to control his breathing. "Bruised, not broken."

"We're going to get you back to the ship soon," Rorek promised him, brushing a hand down the side of his face again as he placed the cup aside. He glanced over Spock's body again, before looking at the Vulcan with new concern coming to his face. "...is Schaven still with you, Spock?"

Spock took a shallow breath, but Rorek felt him nod just barely. "Yes."

Rorek shut his eyes briefly, allowing the choking wave of relief to wash over him, before he opened his eyes to look at Spock again. "Hold on, t'hy'la," he murmured quietly, brushing back the Vulcan's black hair from his forehead with the side of his thumb. "This will all be over soon. We'll be home before you know it."

Spock nodded, closing his eyes briefly before looking at McCoy. "Jim?"

"He hasn't woken up yet." McCoy said under his breath, still working on Spock's bandages. "I need the water, Rorek."

"Here," Rorek said, handing him another of the water rations they had received. "How many times a day do they give us this stuff?"

"It varies," McCoy said, pouring some water over a bandage and then wrapping it around once more. "Keep pressure on that. Don't let go," he said, giving Rorek a stern look before moving up to Spock's abdomen. "Vulcans are bleeders."

Spock took another breath as he looked at McCoy. "It is not uncommon, Doctor."

McCoy harrumphed. "Don't tell me my profession you damn Vulcan."

"What did they give us for food?" Rorek asked, steering away from the present conversation and giving McCoy a pointed look. "Anything edible?"

McCoy scoffed. "They haven't given us anything."

"Figures," Rorek muttered. "I'll talk to them the next time they - "

"Bones...?"

McCoy jolted, his head almost spinning off his shoulders as he turned and dove over to where Kirk was lying. "Jim? Jim, hey," he said, putting a gentle hand on his forehead. "Can you see alright?"
