"Gram if I open this door I'm going to kick him into a closet, if I don't then he can peck his little life away." McCoy said, giving her a firm look. "One or the other."

"Fine. I'll let him in," Gram McCoy said, standing up once again to head for the door - and this time there was clearly no stopping her. "Damn kids these days..."

"Ma - "

The door opened, and Gram McCoy came in a second later with a grumpy Lester in her arms. "There, there, Lester. It's okay," she scowled at McCoy before sitting down. "You can calm down, now."

Rosie whimpered, looking very scared at the sight of the rooster. She looked at McCoy, quickly stretching out her arms for him with a frightened babbling sound.

McCoy picked her up, glaring defensively at Gram who was coddling the wicked rooster. "Well I guess we'll be going then. Ma, Pa, thanks for breakfast. I'll come get you for the tour once I find Jim."

"Sounds good, sweetheart," Mrs. McCoy said fondly, before waving at Rosie. "Bye-bye, Rosie!"

"Bababa," Rosie babbled, resting her head on McCoy's shoulder as she watched Lester uncertainly.

McCoy gave the rooster one more glare before turning and leaving the room.

Someday he would kill it. That, he vowed.
